A VERY GOOD GIFT

From the beginning of time, a mandate was spoken by the Creator God that is unchangeable as the fleeing of dark when light comes. Unchangeable, with no variation or shadow of turning.

“It is not good that man should be alone…” (Genesis 2:18)

And for that I am forever grateful. And for that, we have reason to praise God for who He is;

Good.

Adam, made in the image of God, was actually not “alone”. Yes, not at all. Adam was enjoying a life and a communion with the triune God. Which means that Adam was with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! Sounds like a party to me.

Yet God gave Adam Eve. Eve, who was a wife comparable to him and mother to his children.

God gave us each other. And God called it good.

When someone gave, whatever that was given is a gift. And whatever gift comes from the Father of lights above is good and perfect, for He is good and His ways are perfect. He can never give a bad gift. He just can’t! Just like how we can’t make cats fly, God can never give a bad gift, one that is less than perfect. If He ever did—which He never would—He would be violating His very own identity. Just not possible.

So as we enjoy the rest of this summer season, let’s celebrate God for He has given us a good gift—each other. That together, we bear the very image of the holy God. And that we, sons and daughters of the living God, together with Him the triune God, make up a most precious family. You and I will never be alone. We have God and we have each other.

And though we may not be perfect to each other, the truth remains that truly we are to each other, in the eyes of God, a very good gift (Genesis 1:31). With the hope that we are perfect, and still being perfected, in Jesus Christ right at this very moment.

And sure, these days may be pretty striking hot. Yet—

Have a great and a blessed summer!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

P.S.

Looking for examples how good a gift we are to each other? Our 2016 Family Picnic is sure it! And another reminder how very good is our God.
