A GODLY MOM

Being a Mother is one of life's greatest joys and blessings. It also is a job that requires much sacrifice. Being a mom is one of the highest callings that God bestows on any woman. Moms need to be insightful, tough, gentle, positive, encouraging, strict, caring, loving, Godly and selfless-- and all this before lunch!

It's not easy to give so much all the time, but God is pleased with our sacrifice. This is because when we give our time, our love and ourselves to our children we are modeling the same characteristics of giving as Jesus. The Bible tells us that a true servant is important to God. Jesus said, "...Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35). The Bible also says, " The greatest among you must be a servant." (Mathew 23:11)

A mother is continually building, shaping and cultivating her child into the person God intends. She shares a special partnership with God because she is raising a future person. She is invaluable to the kingdom of Christ due to her influence on the next generation. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, every Godly mother is a blessing to her children and children’s children.

This is not a task to be taken lightly! The job is only made possible through a grace that is given and a love that is placed in a mother's heart by God Himself. Jesus tells us that we are so valuable to Him, that "indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered." (Luke 12:7). God even stores up our tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). Our Father loves us so much that He cares about the little things!

Below are a few important qualities of a Mother who follows Jesus and is filled with the Spirit of God:

  1. Prays often for her children

“…they should always pray and not give up.” -- Luke 18:1 A believing mom will always pray for her children. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, she is able to pray for their health, their protection, and their future—no matter what the circumstances may be.

  1. Demonstrates unconditional love

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.” -- 1 John 4:18 A mother who loves God with all her heart will love her children, even though they may disobey sometimes. The love she has is not based on their performance, but based on their relationship and identity.

  1. Exhibits steadfastness in the Word of God

“All who follow His precepts have good understanding.”-- Psalm 111:10 A Christian mom meditates on the Word of God regularly as well as speaking and teaching it to her children. Her family witnesses her diligence and learns from her example to apply God’s teachings to their everyday lives.

  1. Trusts in God

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” -- (Psalm 9:10) Her trust in God is evident by her actions. She believes God, HisWord and His promises. She relies on Him and His faithfulness. She establishes a trust relationship with God that grows each and every day.

  1. Keeps the Faith

“A faithful person will be richly blessed.” -- Proverbs 28:20 A mom's faith will persevere in times of trouble. She will continue to grow and mature in Christ.

Praying you have a blessed Mother's Day and for supernatural strength, wisdom and steadfastness for every Mom in Jesus' mighty name! AMEN.
